Why my Investment portfolio value changing while all stock markets are closed?
Yes. Even on a Saturday and Sunday your portfolio value can change for several reasons:
- US markets were open on Friday and prices may still be updating
- Portfolios continues to reflect the latest closing prices.
- Some delayed data feeds, after-hours trading, and currency updates can cause small movements.
- Currency fluctuations
- If you hold US stocks or ETFs, their value is converted into GBP.
- The GBP/USD exchange rate trades almost 24 hours a day during weekdays and can affect your portfolio value even when stock markets are closed.
- Cryptocurrency holdings
- If you own crypto through Trading 212, crypto markets trade 24/7, including weekends.
- Fractional shares and fund pricing adjustments
- Some funds or ETFs may have pricing corrections or net asset value updates outside normal market hours.
Are any major stock markets open today (Saturday)?
Generally:
- 🇬🇧 London Stock Exchange — Closed
- 🇺🇸 New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) — Closed
- 🇺🇸 Nasdaq — Closed
- 🇪🇺 Most European exchanges — Closed
Regular stock markets do not normally trade on Saturdays.
If you tell me:
- Your portfolio value yesterday
- Your portfolio value now
- Whether you hold stocks, ETFs, or crypto
I can help identify exactly why it’s moving.
